It really is. I think I'm going to need to sell a few sometime soon.
Well these first two are a couple of gifts from my little brother.
This Grabow freehand was in pretty rough shape so I thought I'd try my hand at rusticating it. I didn't go too deep and I'm just waiting on some carnuba to give it a go. I gave it the old tea and vinegar black stain which came out very nice and jet black.
A traditional German huntsman type that had never been smoked before I got it. I'm not quite sure how old it is but it is stamped DRGM (Deutsche Reich Gebrauchmuster) and DBGM (Deutsche Bundes Gebrauchmuster) but no numbers to go along with it.
These though are my latest acquisitions...that I didn't pay more than $9.99 for.
I didn't show off this Jeantet Oom Paul yet but here it is. It's a nice smoker even though the draft hole is drilled a little high. Nice and light and it hangs nicely. Absolutely no char on the rim or bite marks on the stem and all it'll need is a little carnuba to bring it back to looking like new. I hope I look this good when I'm creeping up on 40.
A couple more Brigham's for my growing collection of them. This one is from the beginnings of the Italy outsourcing I presume because it doesn't say 'Made in Canada'. A really great looking piece on the high end of their lines. I had to grab it for how good it looks and the unusual (for Brigham) band that is attached to the aluminum tenon for the filter. This grade cost $20 in 1960 and what I paid for it translates to a hell of a bargain today.
This one just jumped up and bit me and I had to have it. A highly unusual style for Brigham and near to their highest grade in the period. It's from approximately the mid 60's to early 70's and I'm waiting on more information from Brigham if they can find any on this particular type. This one was $25 when new and I can understand why. Feels great in the hand and smokes beautifully.
This Trypis I just bought because I just couldn't pass it up.![Oops! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Besides it's from a Canadian maker and it was all the way in Arizona. I think it wanted to come home.
