On the bay about 5 months ago was a listing for a GBD Canadian and a Yello-Bole canadian. So I bought them. I'm legally blind, so the bad photos were of no help. The listing said both pipes had no apparent problems. I got the pipes.

There were a few problems. 1. There was no name on either pipe. 2. There was no stem on either pipe. 3. There was no finish on either pipe. The pipes look like a DIY person tried to make 2 pipes, and found that there was more work than meets the eye.

The seller said there were no apparent problems, hopping for a sucker to buy. That's me.

O today I filled the pipe with Granger, stuck the bare wood shank in my mouth, and I am smoking it.

To me I am not enjoying it. Beggers can't be choosers.

Aeropuffer, if it helps any, If you see something on Ebay you'd like a second opinion on, shoot me a private message here and I'll take a look as soon as I'm able. I'm sure others will do the same as well. We're a community here. We help each other out.

Some of what we learn in life is the result of less than wonderful experience.

Obviously, IF what you say is true, you have a case for a refund/return/whatever, a resolution to make it 'right'.

Perhaps you should contact your favorite forum member and try to set up some sort of assistance program in the future.

You want to be sure you have a pipe that smokes? Go to the WalGreen's nearest you and get a Missouri Meerschaum Kentucky Legend or Pride.

Even a blind man could find a good smoke in one of those.

Thank you for your offer of assitance. I can use your help now. I would like to have 4 pipes listed on Ebay. Item #201597874659 or 859. The last 3 numbers are hard to read even with glasses and a big magnifing glass. And I can't make out a lot based on the pictures. Does one of the pipes look like a Peterson? What would be a good bid for them?

Thanks

I would personally pass on that group. I gather that you are located in the UK and would like to restrict purchases to that area?
Those pictures are too weak to reveal any manufacturers names.
I suspect the one with the P-lip is most likely a Wellington and it looks to be in decent condition
The sitter could be a Savinelli and it looks to be in decent shape.
One has a rubber tip, which could be covering a broken or damaged button.
One has some heat damage, which could be from an ashtray or burnout.
I think you can do better than this lot.
Can you PM me your phone number? I can call the UK thru my Vongage and it may be easier to speak to you for assistance. I'd like to know what you are looking for in a pipe and your budget.

This one, from that seller looks to be in better condition and it is a real Peterson.

aeropuffer, I'd shop only from the ebay sources recommended by ebay buyers on Forums. The junk and scams out there are too numerous otherwise. Also, in my opinion, you can get some quality new pipes for modest prices at pipesandcigars (especially review their Stanwells); smokingpipes.com for Rossi, Ropp, Genod, and others; and Cup O Joes for their Cup O Joe specials, pipes made for them by major pipe makers. Especially smokingpipes.com has good selection of estate pipes. Though many of these run into hundreds of dollars, plenty run sixty or seventy and are good pipes accurately described and graded, and professionally sanitized. You may end up with fewer pipes, but you'll have good smokers that will help you enjoy your pipe smoking. 4noggins is especially good at international sales and shipping, and they have some great deals on good briar Medico pipes at "drugstore" prices. So, don't get mugged anymore. Ask for good advice here, but also enjoy the inventory of our sponsors. They want you to be happy. They want you back for years to come. If it isn't right, they'll make it right. Plus, they have an array of wonderful tobaccos that you combine with a pipe order to keep your shipping costs down. We all have to learn our way around the market and buy a few turkeys before we know what we're doing.
