While perusing eSlay for early 1900’s pipes I came across these two hallmarked Civic pipes. I’m sure they were smoked hard, but these pics made me weep.

At first I thought it was just super over reamed then I went back and saw the hacksawed off top.
I just purchased a disc sander for sanding down my pipes that I scorch with my torch lighters. Are you guys suggesting I don't?
I think for some smokers back then, they were grateful to have at least one pipe. If this let the original smoker keep smoking, good for them.
I can only assume the seller did this to “restore” them
If they were a lot cheaper, 10bucks they would make fine work pipes.
