Hello Briarists and Meerschaumites,
I'm looking for the earthiest tobacco you've ever smoked. Think peaty, forest floor, fresh-rain smell, freshly tilled earth, fermented. I love Pu-erh tea which is very earthy and I know there has to be a tobacco out there that would really hit the spot when I'm craving a smoke like this.
The closest I've come so far is Kajun Kake, though it is a bit sweeter and more of a dark chocolate, creamy, coffee bean, mild dirt type of taste and smell to me. Its not really all that close to what I'm going for but its a start. I think that latakia heavy blends would be out, though I definitely think that small proportions could help enhance this aroma/flavor, same with perique. I've heard good things about shortcut to mushrooms and its on my short list of blends to try. What else have you got!?
This is a bit of a weird request, I know... hopefully I'm not the only one.

MacBarens Symphony has a lot of Burley in it, which I think gives it a good earthy taste. McClellands Navy Cavendish has a rum topping which you can taste in the initial lighting of the bowl, but once that wears off (to me, about 1/4 of the way through), you get a nice solid taste that, I guess, could be described as earthy. Hope this helps!

Woohoo! Thanks for the suggestions. The only one of these that I have on hand is FMoTB, but its unopened. I've got some sampling to do it seems - and some things to add to my next TAD order. Keep 'em coming :)
