Some good ones are the burleys, Macbaren's Golden or 4 Noggins Button Bay, Dunhill Standard, McClelland's Yenidje Agonya or Supreme and their Turkish Ribbon.
Usually something with Virginia in it these days. Escudo, Anni Kake, Louisiana Red, HH MAture VA, and today I had NYPC Bedloe's Island.
+1 On the 8 O'Clock Coffee. It was Colombian from a stove-top perc for me!
I like a Virginia in the morning, but I drink tea, lol. Sterling's Old Dominion, McClellands Christmas Cheer, and Nothing Quite Like That First Pipe of the Day from House of Calabash are my typical morning smokes.
I like to "test" different blends as the first pipe of the day in a clean pipe. I found the advice about changes in the experience occur due to different acidity in ones mouth does occur with coffee in the morning. Coffee is the norm for me and if I have no coffee with the same blend/pipe then the smoke seems to be marginally different. Perhaps I should experiment with a little Irish whiskey in the coffee. At least that would dilute the acidity...or is whiskey acidic? Maybe should leave out the coffee. :D
