Any one have personal experience with EA Carey Magic Inch pipes? Looks like a specially designed and patented filtration system. Also it appears you have to purchase their special filters. Or if you have one of these, can the pipe be used w/o the filter? Thanks.

It isn't so magic. My neighbor smoked these 50 years ago when I was a kid. He didn't use the filter. Kind of a gimmick, it didn't make much if any difference.

I've always assumed it was like a falcon or system pipe. Where it might make a difference but not any where near the difference that cadence would make. Like it might cool the smoke a little bit, but if that's a problem for you it probably still would be. If it did more then that I assume they'd be more popular.

I owned one for years a long time ago. They were sold through ads in publications. They have the little carburetor in the stem. It soon became apparent that the carburetor didn't' have any discernible effect, so I taped it over. It still wasn't much of a pipe, and had a drab matte finish that was grim. I gave it away.
