First, let me say that this is a legitimate tobacco legislation discussion, so the mention of e-cigs is ok. I want to make sure there is no confusion since we have a no e-cigs discussion rule.
As I said, this is a discussion about legislation.
What's colossally obnoxious and idiotic about this is that there have been laws in place for decades banning the sale of tobacco products to minors. The antis are so dependent upon crying about how they are "saving the children" to try to give themselves some semblance of legitimacy, that they become blind to the fact that minors already can't buy the stuff.

Boston commission approved a requirement that they be sold in their original manufacturing packaging of at least four, which is intended to combat sales individual cigars to minors.
What gets me about this particular statement; If a retailer was prepared to break the law and sell cigars to a minor in the first place, then why wouldn't they break this law and keep selling individual cigars?

I really hate the way nicotine gum is way overpriced, it is great in helping people to quit smoking, it just goes to show how messed up things can get. Governments could be a lot more flexible and creative if they really want to help people. The fact remains most treasury accountants don't really want to many people to quit too quickly......tax revenues are small enough these days. I've only one piece of advise.....snuff.

Honestly, I saw the e-cig regulation/banned in the workplace thing coming a mile away. Not surprised at all. But the cigarillo thing? That's just silly. If a retailer is going to sell single cigars, cigarillos, cigarettes etc. to minors, what makes these lawmakers think they wont sell em a pack? Its goofy really. Articles like this make me roll my eyes like an angst-ridden teenager. Its like a bad television series that gets more and more stupid, but they keep airing it because they have the actors on contract lol

E-cigs are the perfect example of their true intentions, it has nothing to do with public health. E-cig vapor is just that, water vapor, and it contains no carcinogens, nor will it transfer any nicotine to anyone else near a 'vaper'. So all this bullhockey about 'second hand smoke' doesn't apply at all, but they still want to force businesses to ban it for no good reason other than 'I don't like it'.
That's the problem with government, the people who want to be in government shouldn't be anywhere near it! Nobody wants to be a steward, they want to feel like they're doing something. Taking a dump on smokers (and vapers, apparently) is a safe and politically correct way to do so.
