Presumably, this pipe was made intentionally. I have not seen another one, but that doesn't mean as much as it used to.

Looks silly, but I guess it could come in handy if you want the pipe out of your line of sight while reading or driving, or if you need to smoke around a corner.

Perhaps that's the modern interpretation of their old "windshield" pipe, it's definitely a wrap-around.
