Good morning to this fine group. I need to ask for some assistance here with regards to Dunhill Flake tobacco which I have located at a near by shop.

I may consider to purchase the entire lot any Guidance here would be helpful as I
understand Dunhill was sold off to Peterson And I wasn’t sure if there is any difference in the tobacco since Peterson had taken the busines.

thank you

I can’t speak for the Flake because the only Dunhill I smoked before the sale was Early Morning Pipe. I see no difference between Dunhill and Peterson. But that’s just my opinion. I suppose it would depend on the price your shop is asking. Is it more than what you can buy Peterson? Can you buy a tin of the Dunhill and smoke a bowl at the shop? If so, do that. If you like it enough and the price is right, buy the lot. If not, you still have a tin of fine tobacco in your cellar from a legendary company.

Yes when I opened the tin it appeared to be aged somewhat. Also the shop had some dunhill ready rub which I purchased both brands smoked fairly well thanks for you response.
It's excellent 4 year old Virginia Flake so not a complete dud either. If it's $20 per tin or less, I'd probably buy it. How much does the guy have and what's he asking for it?
The tobacco store is asking $24.00 USD per tin I understand they have a few sleeves I estimate 20 tins.

That's not horrible. I'd offer him $20 per tin for ten or twenty depending on how much you want to spend. There is value to smoking 4 year old age tobacco. Good luck.

Whoever told you that doesn't know their head from their ass.

The Dunhill branded line of tobaccos was manufactured for BAT - owners of the rights to the Dunhill line of tobaccos - by STG, Scandinavian Tobacco Group. As part of Dunhill's decision to distance themselves from tobacco, BAT announced that they would be discontinuing manufacture of the blends. STG, the manufacturer of the Dunhill blends, already owned the rights to the Peterson branded line of tobaccos, and was able to purchase the rights to continue making the Dunhill blends, but not using the Dunhill name. Same manufacturer, same production line, same ingredients. There's no difference except for the name printed on the label.

If you're looking for actual Dunhill made Dunhill tobaccos, they're still around, but very pricy, since they haven't been made since around 1980.

There seems to be this totally made up story about a Peterson "takeover' of the Dunhill tobaccos, like it's separate companies. I don't know whether this is because of simple ignorance, or because of some scam being perpetrated to defraud buyers of leftover "Dunhill", but it is total bullshit. And anyone who actually wants to know the facts can see the announcements in the various tobacco trade publications at the time the deal was announced.

I liked Dunhill Nightcap much better than the Peterson version, but it might be because it was aged?

Pipe smokers keep insisting that Dunhill decided to distance themselves from tobacco. But it's just not true. BAT sells and continues to sell Dunhill cigarettes. I think it's more accurate to say the Dunhill wants to distance itself from pipe smokers.
