Why is noone talking about dunhill straight system pipes? Is this one of those things, where everyone knows about it, but me?
A couple of months ago I got a Dunhill shell 926 in a trade and it was one of the best smoking dunhills i have ever smoked? It had a tankard style chamber, with a double bottom and draft hole in the middle. I sold it because I wasn't into straight pipes at the time, also it was just huge.
Recently i wanted to find a small pipe with the same system, but I can't find any info on it...

It was a system of any kind, just had space for a filter ---

But what about the double bottom, that's a very unusual design for dunhill, right? Actually for other brands too... I have seen it on Peterson straight systems and rattray's tankards, i am sure there is a lot more.
I’m curious, what do you mean by double bottom?

I've never heard of or seen a Dunhill system pipe with a 2nd chamber like Peterson.
Filter pipes, like George shared and 60's or so had the metal tube, that went into a tapered tenon.

I will try to find some photos of the first one and I will take some of the second one once it arrives, but I haven't heard of or seen that before and I can't find info anywhere

Charatan made an Underboar, but that was in the 20’s. Here’s a few marketing items and a picture of mine.

I’ve never heard of Dunhill having a System, the Underboar isn’t a System, it’s a way of simplifying cleaning of the pipe.

I wonder if underbore and system don't blend into each other, seing that they have such a similar design... The condenser being the difference, but even that isn't a must in order to call a pipe a system pipe🤔

I had to google Skirms Smoke Shop! It was located in Princeton, NJ (a wonderful NJ town).

I would point out that there is more to a system pipe that just the reservoir, and an underboar lacks at least two of the system pipe features...my $0.02

Just two of these features are system specific - the reservoir and the condenser. Some modern Peterson "system" pipes come with 9mm filters, so we are left with just the reservoir. It's semantics at this point, but still. I can also rephrase the question to - Why is noone talking about underbore Dunhills?😉

Now here is a nice rabbit hole for me to lose a day or two... You mentioned charatan from the 20s and showed a Gordon branded pipe... No spoilers please 🤣

Well, it’s simple. Underboar and System are Patents. Dunhill does have several versions of “dry” pipes from back in the day.

Kinda like Stingers, everyone has a marketing catch.

I scored this one the other day. Obviously nobody but me knew how rare this pipe is.

Should be a relatively easy restore, fascinating grab! Has the mechanism been altered?
