curious, how can you tell is Algerian briar?
Generally people can't tell. Unfinished, Algerian briar has a slightly darker color, but once it's been stained you really can't tell, unless you're intimately involved with the briar trade or maybe a pipe carver. More likely the briar is either Sardinian or Calabrian. To the extent that Dunhill used Algerian, it was for the production of shells.

one thing's for sure, this pipe does not heat that easily... very happy with it, I'll make good use of it
