Does anyone know of a good site to learn about Dunhills besides pipepedia?

John C. Loring was a knowledgeable collector of Dunhills who wrote a lot of good stuff.

John Loring wrote a paperback "book" a while ago. It is a must have for those interested in Dunhill history> It's out of print but they show up on eBay from time to time...for about $100.00.

The booklet to which Mikestanley refers is titled "The Dunhill Briar Pipe - The Patent Years and After," copyright 1998. I purchased my copy from Pipestud via his eBay store. It contains a wealth of information, and would be useful to any Dunhill enthusiast.

The Loring book referred to above is, at least in my opinion, the number one reference on Dunhill. It really gets into the details and answers a lot of questions that won't be addressed by the online references mentioned above. That said, if you have a pipe that's fifty years or less old, the Field site, pipephil or Chris Keene's site will almost always give you the information you need.

Cool beans. My Shellbriar has a 4 suffix after the word England. That puts it at 1954. There are letters printed with a slash separating them. F/T.

I asked Howard Shulte about that. He said it denotes "fish tail" for the stem.

Unfortunately, my conversations with Howard have been all to abrupt for me to properly (as if I could) access his information about the Dunhill pipe.

Given the cost of Dunhills, this means trouble, but I am fast becoming a Dunhill enthusiast. Al Pascia has a good page and a half of information.
