Dunhill: Real or Fake?

I bought this last year in a car boot sale in Dorset. I paid £10 for it, in unsmoked condition, which has led me to wonder about its veracity since I purchased it. Being relatively new to the hobbie, I have no way of knowing for sure. If anyone can say one way or the other, I'd appreciate it:

There is a thread on here about how little profit one would make from going through the trouble of forging a Dunhill. I’m far from an expert but the stamping, dot, & inner tube look legit. Either way, the price was great for a pipe.

Yes the bowl looked a little oval to me, maybe someone reamed it down to wood and cleaned it up? Either way it’s a hell of a good price.

I don't see anything that suggests that the pipe is not legit. Congrats. The wall thickness isn't unusual for a small Dunhill. The dot size isn't unusual for a small sized Dunhill. The "oval" appearance is lens distortion from a wide angle lens.

Why do you suspect that it's a fake? Because you paid so little? So it makes more sense that someone wasted lifespan at a penny an hour to turn out a fake Dunnie?

Sometimes you get lucky. Enjoy it. Odds are, life will even that out.

Yes exactly because I paid so little for it, I assumed it could be fake. But what you say also makes sense, the effort any would-be fraudster would have to put in to make a fake pipe doesn't seem like it would yield a good refurn for them. That's not to mention the expertise they would have to have.

One thing I can say with some certainty, is that this pipe has never been smoked, nor likely reamed for that matter. I have had estate, and new pipes, this is defo the latter.

Only one way to find out. Try growing bonsai Japanese maple in it. Heard Dunhill makes awesome bonsai pot.

It says '2S' on the bottom. I'm guessing that's it.

Just before F/T, which indicates a fish tail stem? I thought that I noticed a stamp there, maybe just the deeper blast.
Otherwise 2 “S” inside a circle indicates a group 2, sand blast. As others have pointed out.
