Dunhill Question 1955 or 1965

OK, I always feel stupid asking this question, but does this underlined 5 make this Dunhill a 1955 (because the underlined 5 is smaller than the letter D in England) or is it a 1965 (because I have seen reference where a 1955 will NOT have an underline, but a 1965 may or may not). I am guessing it is a 1965 because a 1955 would NEVER have an underlined number, just a small number. Is that correct, this is a 1965?

Yes, yours is 1955, I also have an underlined 5 (4 s) which is 1955 and also an underlined 7 (4 s) which is 1957 (my birth year)

Yes, that is a rarity among my Dunhills.

Thanks for the feedback all, now I have to go back and try and remember what the asterisk mark signifies.....so many marks on Dunhills

I think that’s been designated an aftermarket stamp. That conclusion doesn’t quite satisfy me, but I think it’s as close as we can get with the current information available.
