Dunhill Pipe Bowl Polish and Pipe Ghosting / Bad Smell

I wouldn't use scented detergent, but it that's all you have, if rinsed very well with very hot water it should be ok. Also the chamber may be causing some unpleasantness, so I would flush that out very thoroughly.

I ended up just smoking them like normal and after would do a rub down with a horse hair brush just to make sure I got all the polish off. After two weeks the polish smell is not noticeable on one pipe and barely noticeable on the other pipe (it's getting better). Problem solved, the Dunhills are saved from the trash... CASE CLOSED. Thank you all for your advice.
