It is possible, like Peterson, that Sasieni added the hallmarked bands to pipes made in latter years? I don't think you've shared this one before, amazing!

Interesting. My 1941 Hallmarked 8 Dot might tend to disagree.

Is it possible that someone in the current workshop would have worked for Dunhill in the glory years? I think those folks would have been retired long ago (although a young man in the working mid 70's would be 60+ yrs)

Hello Jones.

We're talking about a big company that's kept formal records over the years. Many stamps of the "glory years" have been "restamped" recently and It was not necessary to make contact with anyone besides life or with a 100-year-old zombie to know this. =) Most of what we know about Dunhill are posthumous memories (registered somewhere), so far, no novelty. I'm not even going to mention the oral communication that a workshop chief must have done in every transfer of responsibility. So, It is possible and likely that someone knew for sure (especially in the factory).
