Don't get me wrong, some or the Dunhill blends I love, but I think 30 or higher is kinda ridiculous. I don't find them particularly unique. If you can't find any Dunhill at retail price I'd consider exploring the GL Pease English blends. They span the full English/Balkan range and are all exceptional in my experience. Especially the ones that fit your strength preferences.

+1 The G.L. Pease line of Tobaccos are exquisite, or at least all I've tried so far have been. I really do love a good English blend and they do it about as good or better than anyone else. C&D too, makes a really good English, of course, they're the ones putting out the G.L. Pease stuff anyway.

+2. I get the appeal of trying an iconic blend, trust me (I have literally no idea why I never bought any McClelland over the 8 years of smoking between me starting the hobby and them going out of business), but it's pretty easy to find a good substitute. The Dunhill blends were all pretty good, to varying degrees, but especially in the English genre there are dozens of readily available substitutes. GL Pease is a wizard with Latakia blends.

I really love the Cornell and Diehl Latakia and dark fired. And Perique for that matter. Excellent components.

Nightcap is a great blend, and if you've never tried it and really want to, the current inflated ebay prices aren't too bad if you just want one tin. However, Nightcap isn't magical, and there are readily available blends in the same genre that are as good. Don't feel like you're missing out too much. Nightcap is the granddaddy of heavy latakia blends, and it set the standard, but there are plenty of others that live up to it.

I have placed two orders with BnB where they have not had the item in stock but their website showed otherwise. I just asked Customer Service and they said it was no longer available. Thank you guys for all your help. I will just keep an eye out during my travels or wait for the copycat blend.

I just checked and they are out now. FYI
Interesting. When I saw it as in stock, I added 1 to the shopping cart to make sure before I posted that it was available. I wonder if it was just a matter of timing and the number of tins available.
Anyway, sorry you couldn't find it.

I mean no disrespect to Dunhill or Nightcap, and I treasure the bits I have left, however, for the moment, we live in the golden age of variety and quality of pipe tobacco blends, so I suggest that rather than fret about the blends that are disappearing or already have, I'd savor the many scores, hundreds of blends that are available in ample amounts, while this is still true. There are endless examples, and you might not like my picks, but if you sample around, you'll find superb blends at good prices. Make hay while the sun shines.

Generally speaking,In my Youth I was always favoring Latakia containing mixtures, especially those of Dunhill Latakias but now when I do open a tin of any given latakia containing blend I eventually end up giving /selling it away, except perhaps for Presbyterian or Skiff mix. by S&G.

MSO - I agree with you and am not too focused on the dying blends. I am new in the pipe game and want to experience these blends at least once. I was fortunate to come across a true gentleman here who has offered up a great deal on a few Dunhill tins which should satisfy my curiosity. I am searching through a variety to try and find that one blend that I will buy by the pounds.
