Wow! the hole diameter is an inch and one half wide? I would love to see a picture of the top of the pipe. You have one of the shorter bowl height variety, I love the stamping!

Yes. The Chamber diameter is 1-5/8 inches.
Uh oh...
Condition is an issue, then. Sounds like the chamber walls were deeply charred and then then sanded down to healthy wood. The largest diameter chamber Dunhill used for any standard-sized pipe that I've ever seen (or heard about) was .88"

I'm calling him to make sure he knows what he gave me.

He's been a manager at a pipe and cigar shop for at least 25 years that I know of, so I pretty sure he knew what it is.
