Dunhill Hedgehog

I recently picked up a 'Hedgehog' that is stamped on one side 'Alfred Dunhill/Duke Street/London S.W.', and has 'Hedgehog' and a patent number on the other side.

Did Dunhill create these?

i like the Buttner pipe tools but i wouldn’t put that anywhere near my pipe or Butt…ner.

The patent number suggests this may have been created by Dunhill. I have seen this type of reamer from GBD and ones with tobacconists’s names stamped (but, lacking the “HEDGEHOG” designation). Perhaps, these were knockoffs or were licensed.

The Pat No. is for the 'Hedgehog' cleaner, and this one is stamped to be sold at the Dunhill shop. See this advert from Tobacco, Feb 1910:

I guess because they label it as a 'reamer', they also had to include 'Not a Toy'.

Darn - three sizes?!? Rats, I guess my Dunhill tool collection is still incomplete.

that's just the world. Some of the trees around here have zero shame, letting their dangles all hang out.
