Excellent. To all who doubt antiquing, I say get out there and try it. You won't find a Dunhill every time (if at all), but it's always fun to look! I've even found pipe racks at thrift stores. The stuff is out there, save it!My wife loves antiquing. You may have just persuaded me to actually go with her next time!
I'm with ejames, you can steam dents in the briar, but not the stem.Mike,the wet towel and hot iron is used to removed dents in the briar. Never heard of using that method on stems. Careful application of heat( as stated above) can lift shallow toothmarks etc. Careful sanding and filing will get rid of some or all,depending on depth and location. They can be filled and if done correctly the repairs are hard to see. Personally if I were mine I'd send it out for a replacement stem. It's well worth the cost.
