Just got a Alert for Back In Stock. Have been tracking this and no one had Dark Flake and was the 1st to sell out. Can this be a McClelland Last Call???

Well, it sold out in small part due to your broadcast notifying the world of the in-stock alert.
But glad you were able to get what you needed.

It was selling out even when posted this....
So let me throw a Easter Egg in this threaded just for us...14 Tins of Solani Blend Aged Burley Flake at CupoJoes

There is NO JUST FOR US.

At any given moment, many thousands of eyes follow this forum. The few of us that post are entertainment and fodder for the anonymous eyes of the world. You do your fellow posters NO GOOD SERVICE by posting these alerts. If you wanted a select few people to know something, then send a PM to them. But, when you post that something is in stock somewhere, you are shooting a distress flare out across the water, and the smell of blood alerts the hungry sharks in the water.
The sponsors will love you though. The rest of us... eh.

You did ok, cohibajoe. The takeaway from this is: do not leave this website -- even for a moment! Enablers welcome!
Kevin keeps stats on visits, and I'm sure the sponsors have access to them.

Now now. Not selfish hoarders. And this post should stay open.
The point is an important one. There is a difference in blast posting in-stock notifications and having discussions about tobacco merits and what to buy and cellar. Most of the people on this. Board and elsewhere already have signed up and know they are available. It’s the thousands of other snippers out there that respond to the in-stock posts and grab up the good stuff for resale. And there are lots of ways to post between the lines with emoticons, or “this is terrible tobacco” comments or winks, etc.

thanks CohibaJoe. Don't listen to the selfish hoarders.
Uhhhh...actually, it works the opposite. People watch this site for alerts and then ensues a piranha-like feeding frenzy. But it doesn't really matter, as people can sign up for "in stock" notifications and word gets out anyway. If I'm aware of something being available before it's become general knowledge, and I know someone who's looking for it, I'll contact that person directly to give them a fighting chance before word goes wide and the crazies swoop in.
Besides, if you really want something hard to find, quit wasting your time with the major on line outlets and give your B&M some business. Yes, you will pay more, but you will also have that elusive blend to enjoy.

Yeh, I think it even more important NOT to make one of those, (link to Ebay) "Should I Buy the Pipe" posts. 7 out of 10 times, someone else pulls the trigger, while the newbie forum member hesitates. And, the even more ironic posts are when someone posts a link to a pipe to talk about how overpriced it is, and someone buys it in the middle of the discussion. Peck was known to do that.

You don't get it.... The selfish hoarders were aided by this thread.... Not the other way around.
I was 4th on the list at SP to be notified when Dark Flake was back in stock.. But I couldn't check my email at the exact minute the notification came in and missed out.

Apparently there was over 140 tins listed for sale.... And they sold out in 30 mins.
The attempt to notify your fellow comrades is noble... But unfortunately extremely counterproductive.

Evidently it was hoarder frenzy at SP. On another forum (yes there are other forums out there...) a member who had gotten his alert and immediately signed on, found it already sold out. When he called SP to inquire about it, he was told that it was wiped out by s few large orders since they did not put any limit on purchase amounts. Basically it went to the hoarder/speculators.

Right. And no doubt Kevin lets sponsors, who pay the bills, know that. But with certain members actively promotng not sharing knowledge about tobacco they like until they have their 20 lb entitlement, or in stock alerts, perhaps those eyeballs will find other places to lurk. Sorry, Kevin.
