rls80, I think that if you like the blends that you mentioned then you will like Early Morning Pipe. It is on the lighter side of Latakia blends and has a great flavor.

I'm sure I've smoked every Dunhill blend from 1970 on. Its been a long time but I look forward to re-acqainting myself with the new stuff. In fact, smoking 965 now and it is pretty much how I remember it.

This has been one of my favorites for years. I'm glad to here a positive review of the latest offering. I'll have to give a new tin a try. I've had quite a number in the cellar and smoked them sparingly waiting for the reissue.

I love EMP and the latikia in it is just right! Also it ages well or maybe I just got to appreciate it more.

Early Morning Pipe is a great pipe tobacco. It can be smoked all times of a day, rich in natural flavours from high quality oriental, latakia and virginia tobaccos that are in this lovely blend. Higly recommended!

I also find that I enjoy it. It is not as strong as some of the other Dunhills, like Dunhill Standard Mixture.

Haven't tried EMP. Nightcap is in my regular rotation though. I'll have to give it a try.

Bought 8 oz bulk of Dunhill Early Morning. I have not smoked Dunhill since the time I was last able to get my private blend from a Dunhill store. I started smoking Dunhill back in the early 60's and new some of the Dunhill people personally. Later I switched to Mcclelland because I was personal friends with Karl Ehwa. When I tried this Early Morning stuff I was totally shocked. Anyone who smoked Early Morning years ago when it was actually made by Dunhill would have a very negative opinion of this cheap Danish copy. This stuff was bitter, had that typical "Scandanavian" taste to it and burned like a furnace in one of my Dunhill Collector pipes. Tried it in 2 more Dunhills which had a nice English char in them and it was pathetic. Alfred Dunhill would flip in his grave if he could taste this stuff. If anyone wants 8 oz of this for the price of postage, let me know.

I've smoked Nightcap that is old enough to have been tinned (it was) at the London store and after sampling it I can honestly say that Orlik deserves props for their rendition of this timeless pipe mixture. I'd love to have the opportunity to smoke some vintage EMP as it is my all time favorite smoke. I get it in bulk and it has never failed to satisfy.

I never had the EMP of old either so I can't compare it, but I love the new version, it's one of my favorite smokes. I do find it burns on the fast side, which is why I think it's meant for an early morning smoke, whereas Nightcap I find takes easily twice as long to go through a bowl. I do find EMP a bit pricey, but I haven't found a match that comes close to it, so I'll pay the extra and know what to expect and be satisfied.

I buy the latest EMP in 5lb bulk. I enjoy it nearly every day. It is the perfect morning blend to go along with a cup of black coffee and the sounds of nature waking up. Never had any of it's previous incarnations, but the latest is fantastic.

I can see why its called early morning pipe, its really smooth and it always reminds me of breakfast. maybe its the smokeyness and the fact I pick up some light citrus notes.

As a pipe newbie I recently purchased a tin of EMP. (Dunhill make good pipes don't they so their tobacco must be good as well? ). First bowl was like smoking a cigarette with extra strength nic - nausea, headache and aftertaste like a tiny little man had pooed in my mouth. I swore I would never try it again. But about a week later gave it another shot ( it's Dunhill right?). Now six months later and having tried many other blends; tinned and bulk, I can honestly say that this is my favourite smoke. Nothing I've tried is as subtle, tasty and easy to smoke as EMP. I've never been a cigarette smoker and I still think it has a "cigarettey" kind of taste/feel to it but nevertheless this is one great tobacco. PS sorry for using "cigarettey" but I ain't no wordsmith. :)
