I found a 2009 jar of this blend in my cellar about 10 days ago. I smoked some and have been smoking it almost non-stop for the last week. The stuff is righteous. Just Wow. I don't remember liking this blend all that much back in the day. But right now it's a wonderful blend. And of course, it's no longer made.

I'd like to find out more about it as I know different companies made this blend, Murrays, Petersen and STG? maybe? Others? And what years? Were the blends different as other companies made it? This stuff is golden-good, my Lord.

I've got two jars of this left, one from 2015 and one from about 2018. It became one of my favourite blends from the moment I first smoked it, and I was devastated that it wasn't released under the Peterson brand. Robert McConnell's Oriental is supposed to be a good match, as is one of the Charatan blends, but I haven't tried either.

I think Murray's blended the Dunhill blends from the '80s to the early 2000s, then they were blended by STG until 2018. Now they are blended by Peterson. I've got some sealed Dunhill tins from the pre-Murray's era, but sadly no Durbar!

They are still made by STG, Peterson is just the brand on the tin as far as I know.

Is there a noticeable difference from Murrays to Peterson/STG?

I wonder if my 2009 jar was Murrays or STG/Pete?
I believe that would be an STG production, as Murray's stopped producing them in the early 2000s (2003, 2004?). With most of the blends there are some differences, but sadly I've never tried Murray's Durbar or the earlier Dunhill-produced Durbar.

I always read SP sponsored reviews with a grain of salt. After all, they're intended to help sell current stock.

Durbar is one of my favs and I've had both the Murray's and the STG. The Murray's has a house Dunhill flavor that is missing from the STG. There is more latakia discernible in the STG, so the overall balance against the Orientals is different than the Murray's. O'Connell Oriental Square and C&D Rajah's Court (both explicit clones of Durbar) are more like the Murray's but without the Murray's Dunhill house flavor. I enjoy them all. Unfortunately, I've not had the original Dunhill product.

Murray shut down in 2005. STG did not make Dunhill Durbar until 2014. And it does not today sell Durbar under the Peterson label.

Dunhill Durbar was an overlooked gem when in production. An oriental forward mixture that was fragrant and more interesting and deep to my taste than Early Morning Pipe, without the bitterness that develops in EMP.

McConnell's Oriental is worth trying but not really a good match for Dunhill Durbar. The McConnell has more Latakia and also a sweet topping of some sort.

Dunhill Durbar reminded me of Smoker's Haven's In-B-Tween Mixture.

On your last sentence? Is that a typo? Are you saying it now sells today under the Peterson label?

virginan/oreintal blends always do that for me. where the first couple times are lackluster but then wow. not sure why but i never pick up the finer details at first

No, not a typo. STG does not sell Durbar today under the Peterson label or any other label for that matter.
from that link I posted they never mentioned the tin dates or who made it. ???? They just stated "the old and the new."
<shrug>

I did see an Orliks mention. Orliks made it too?
Orlik is part of STG (the "G" stands for "Group")

If Oriental Square doesn't do it for you, try Olaf's Favourite English by HU tobacco. It reminds me of Durbar, only stronger & harsher.
That sounds great! Sadly it's out of stock on Estervals at the moment, but I will definitely try that the next time they have some in stock.

STG IMO usually changes a blend to match the ways they process the tobacco. I feel their product is usually inferior due to this. Doesn't bode well for people trying to find the exact flavor of a product.
