Vegas Baby!!!
Hi gang, I just added this Dunhill to my collection and I have a few questions concerning the date. I've looked through pipedia but I'm no closer. It is a shape 44.

This photo shows Ao Dunhill London

This photo shows the following:
MADE IN ENGLAND

"INNER TUBE"

PATENTS MARCH.9.15 44

Thank you for your help and sorry for the crappy photos

Oops, after I posted the photos I looked on Pipephil.eu. If I'm not hallucinating my pipe was made before November 1920. Thanks in part to the "D" not having tails.

Pipes with the "MAR.9.15" US reference together with "PAT.APP.FOR" date from 1918-1920. The date suffix was not introduced until late 1921.

This may help I reckon 1918-1920.

Nice One!!

Ash- are you sure the "D" has no tails? From my monitor it looks like it has the tails....

Here's Loring's guide:

It's the tale of the tails... You have the pipe in hand, so can see it better than we can, and from different angles. In the picture, it looks like a possible tail at the top of the D? Or maybe it's just the appearance of the briar?

Ash, much better pic. So going by John Loring, 1920, ‘No Code or Tails’. Pipe looks to be in very good-excellent condition for its age.
