I'm working another small Kansas backwater this week and was prowling around an antique shop today on my lunch hour. I asked the owners for pipes and Boy Scout items and was promptly pointed to an old Brownie pin. I passed on that and was then steered to a sizable smoking stand with around twelve pipes stacked on it. Right off the bat I spotted a Dunhill stem - missing the white dot - and partially stuck into a grungy and well used bowl. I went back to my car, grabbed a magnifying glass and scoped the stem out. There's a lot of wear but I was able to make out "DUNHI..." before it wandered off into nothinginess. I was able to make out a few odd numbers and I'm hoping somebody on this board might be willing to help me identify it. (BTW, there's a "21" stamped on the bottom of the bowl.)
My guess is that the previous owner lost or broke the original stem and then grabbed the stem from a broken Dunhill because the fit is God-awful. But judging from the mange around the mouthpiece I'll guess it didn't bother him a lick.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
