Just picked up this perfect small/medium sized bulldog with saddle bit. This is shape 3204 in the shell sandblast finish. This pipe was made in year 2024 as stamped. It's going to be a good plug and flake pipe due to its smaller bowl.

I've been critical recently of some of the Dunhill shaping but they got this one right.

First off, that is a really nice pipe, and I agree that the shaping is spot on.

I also agree that some time around the 2010's some, let's shall we say 'wonky', pipes started showing up in distribution.

Agree 2010 is about the year I started to see some odd shaping. They have had trouble with the Dublin, and some of the bent billiards. I wonder if they lost some of their experienced carvers.

as classic as it gets,,from Dunhill one cannot expect less

Actually, in recent year it feels like almost the exact opposite.

The family have been trying for some years now to distance themselves from the tobacco business as they move more firmly into seasonal fashion and lifestyle products (whatever that means).

The White Spot is just an echo of a burp in a hurricane.

With all that said, this particular specimen is very shapely. Hope she's a good smoker!

I just bought a magnificent Dunhill 'lifestyle product, namely, a classic leather roll up tobacco pouch (made not in England but in Germany )
