Many of us practice disposal of “duds and losers “on the bay. I don’t want them to end up in the hands of fellow loyal members of this forum looking for a good pipe buy. Anyone have a suggestion to help from feelings of guilt. Can we develope some kind of secret code to avoid same?
When you post it on eBay just be clear on the state of the smoker. List any significant issues…cracks, chips, burns, etc. No need to tell them it’s not a good smoker. To lessen your anxiety, send enough pictures to explain your concerns & tell them to PM you with any questions. The rest will take care of itself. Best of luck. ?☕

Outside of pipe "duds" what do you guys generally do with tobacco you don't care for? Jar it up and keep it in case tastes change or dump it?

I've crushed a few pipes under the heals of my boot in the past, and I have no problem just flicking a pipe out the window of my truck if I get sick of the way it smokes or tastes. No regrets.

Two things I do not do. I do not return things to a store like a lil' bitch, and I do not resale pipes. I have quite a few in a drawer that I love but just don't like to smoke, and if the time comes when I just can't stand a pipe any more, I just do away with it.

I've donated some pipes and traded others for store credit at SP. None of them were out-and-out turkeys, and most of them were fine, just not tuned exactly to my liking. If you want to be conscientious, you can mention a drawback while praising the pipe's virtues, but it's not great salesmanship. I think any of my culled pipes I could have sold in good conscience. If a pipe has irreparable problems, maybe trash is the way out. Tobacco is a judgement call. Many blends improve, or you grow into them, so jarring is a good idea. After a second or third try over time, give them to the garden as insecticide. Or send them to the landfill as insecticide.
