I cut it to a shag and dry overnight if I will smoke in the morning or overday if I will smoke in the evening. About 10 hours works for me.

Hardly at all. Which means lots of relights, but that doesn't really bother me.

I recently ordered the Black Irish X and it is quite moist, so I plan to dry it out quite a bit, and perhaps even use a hand grater to prep it. I suspect it will stay fairly moist anyway, but I prefer a fairly even burn to really savor the flavor of that dark Virginia. I'm a burley devotee, but when Virginia is good, it can be sublime. That Rum Twist sounds delicious.

It was good! As long as could keep it lit.

10 to 15 minutes is good.
Longer than that and you might as well throw it in the trash. YMMV
By the way the rum in that blend weakens the effects of the nicotine and ruins the flavour of the tobacco.
The same tobacco without the rum is a lot better IMO.

Definitely two camps forming here!
& YMMV for sure!
I think the rum is the only one of the currently available flavoured twists that I've not tried, so I can't comment on that.

There is a trick to Twist. In the preparation stage the coins should be evenly cut. If your intention is to smoke the coins in the same fashion as some weird form of 'Three Nonces' then go with the drying time that floats your boat. I tend to find that if the coins are then cut across with your tobacco knife you will wind up with a cube cut which when gravity fed into a pipe will happily burn. YMMV and will depend on personal taste. I, for one like my tobacco moist but different strokes for different folks applies equally.

Rum Twist is a favourite for me, on it's own or as a mixer. Works exceptionally well with Brown Flake Unscented & Warrior Plug. I've been buying the 'pre-sliced' version for the last year or so. Comes in tiny little coins, reminiscent of the old Three Nuns. No drying time required with the coins & you can stack them (in the right sized pipe) & smoke straight away.

Having also tried the maple, there's not a big difference. Neither register as flavoured for me, it's all about the oily dark air cured Virginia.

Opinions. Just that. The only way to have a civilized conversation is by caveating that subjective statements are opinions - which you did - otherwise it just sounds obnoxious.

That's pretty much what I'd have expected based on the other twists. Thanks!

As with condorlover1, I prefer my twist on the moist side. To much drying and I feel the flavor is dimished. I take mine and cut into small coins and then give them a little buzz in a small coffee grinder. Then, smoke away... puffy

I dry Brown Irish hardly at all, but SG #4 needs some time to air, like 20 to 30 minutes. Every twist or rope is going to be different. Some of the darker stoved ropes are coated in olive oil, which won't just dry off.

I cut coins with a cigar cutter that has a back plate, so every coin is the same size. I do four or five of these, stack them in my palm and rub just enough to loosen them up a little, then shove the whole wad into the pipe either straight away or after a short dry time.
