I had not heard about this till now, and I just read an article while watching a video. So far the news in incorrect about a few things. You do not need to be registered with the FAA as a drone operator; only if using a drone to make money in some way. Also, why do they just discount that they "can't" be drones?

As someone who is just getting into the drone hobby, you do have to register any drone with the FAA if over .5 lbs, and there are a ton of micro drones out there. But, even so, more than half of all drones are never registered, especially the ones given to kids as gifts. There are also thousands of attachments for them, many being powerful lights. Professionally, they can be used top assist S&R teams by creating almost daylight lighting for ground teams.

Drone scan also be programmed with a laptop to operate in synch. like the ones that flew over Arizona that still has the UFO chasing freaks all spooked. And, they can also have really good avoidance software that makes them so if another aircraft or drone approaches it will skirt around evasively.

There are also tons of hobbyist getting into building their own drones for a variety of purposes. I am not sure why the news is jumping straight to the whole, "it can't be drones" headlines, except to just be sensationalists.

Been following for about ten days. Last I saw, it was thought that they were coming in from the ocean; most seem to display standard port/starboard red/green lights, but one seemed to be chugging along happily on its left wingtip, if it had such a thing. Almost as if a child had interpreted nav lights but hadn't quite the hang of it.

It's curious that Luigi the shooter was caught in a few days but in NJ after three weeks, nobody has answers.

There was a two-hour House Oversight Committee meeting over the matter
I could see this stirring up some shit for the FAA, if this is some hobbyist. Might catch a whole heap of problems for the drone operators, especially if they aren't in the US.

You never see this kind of shit happening over Alabama. Too many good ol' boys would just pull over and take it down with a rifle. No joke, it's the deep South which had Amazon rethink their whole drone delivery idea.
Pow, ding, win a prize, ha ha.

Surprised no one has yet, in rural New Jersey, took one of these things down. It's been going on for a month.
New Jersians probably just don't want to go to jail, destroying someone's property. And, if the government was really concerned, they could easily set up a sniper, but...

I also wouldn;t be one bit surprised if it is the UFO hunters stirring up controversy to further drum up followers and money... similar to the Arizona hoax.

I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I live on the Jersey Shore and I saw one about 7 miles inland just leisurely tracking across the night sky while I was walking my dog.

What bothers me is the nonsense reporting. “Could be power company using drones to check lines.” Wouldn’t they have said so by now? They think people are stupid.

I honestly believe the damage is done. Launched from ship(s) at sea off the Coastline. The question is what nation and why? Iran? Russia? China?

If gathering intelligence for targeting, they accomplished that task. Military Bases and other Targets of Interest are plotted.

Our Government either knows this and doesn’t want to spread fear or panic or they know nothing at all.

I doubt the latter.

Welcome to the tech weaponry of our times. We’ve used drones extensively. Do you honestly think they’ll never be used here?

I would think that a foreign country trying to scope us out for intelligence wouldn't be shining bright lights and causing controversy. Think people.

Also, as far as our military bases, you can go to Google maps to see a layout of these buildings and bases. It's not like they are doing top secret shit out in an empty field.

There are almost a million drones sold in the us, and kids, teens, and adults make up a huge hobby section of people engineering some rather remarkable drones. I went to a high school engineering tournament, and a 14 year old with a soldering iron can do some pretty fantastic things.

There are multiple videos .

There are only a limited number of possibilities :

1. US government

2. Foreign government

3. Government hired contractor , ours or foreign .

4. Extremely sophisticated prankster.

5. Supernatural , meaning something beyond our science/knowledge .

Edit : 6. This seems a little far-fetched , but I suppose the drug cartels could be involved . They have a lot of money .......

I find it highly suspicious that no one has thought or guessed it could be the PMSS delivery program gearing up !!
And the fact that they remain silent is more suspicious !! puffy

Whatever these are it’s fucked up that we have no answers. How does the FBI say they have no idea and tell us there’s no danger?

If you don’t know what these are then how do you conclude there’s no danger?
Well, speculation... there may be things that people just don't need to know.

Also, it may be that after a month of these fly overs, and no one getting hurt, and obviously if it was espionage, they wouldn't be lit up... that they can access that it seems perfectly safe.

I don't see how people jump from the 90% chance this is kids having fun... to the 1% chance this is something nefarious.

Usually when something nefarious is going on, they don't make such a big production out of it if they want it to work.

Was the Chinese Spy Balloon a hoax?

The FBI knows nothing?

After a month?

Tell us one way or the other.

Speculation? I want answers.
