Don't presume it has to be alcoholic of course, but some of my examples happen to be, and with the delightful thing that is brandy I expect a few more might be heh heh.
Anyway Tonight I'm having potato soup with a glass of arbor mist blackberry merlot and irish creme in my pipe will follow with a second glass of wine. Along the lines of the merlot I suggest any slightly sweet burley to pair, especially Altadis' Mild Burley J4. Cremes go well with burleys in my experience as well. . . with the exception of Alfredo sauce. Bad results there.
I enjoy Irish Black with my Irish Coffee (the coffeemate creamer or the actual malt wine, either works), as well as it being one of the few cases I enjoy any kind of black cavendish.
And of course Summer Smoke after buttered lobster tail and a nice blush.
Pretty much anything with perique in it serves very well with a steak and either a port or pinot noir as well in my opinion.
What pairings do you blokes enjoy?

As some of you know, and some of you don't. I am a very passionate starbucks partner. I have spent weeks now developing a coffee blend to pair well with pipe smoke. I have it almost finished now :D

I'll have a stout with a steak and potato followed by a bowl of Quiet Nights and another Guinness.

I never eat while I smoke.
I have found that iced lemon water with Burleys and Virginias is the only thing doesn't impair the taste of these subtle tobaccos. I drink black coffee or sometimes Earl Grey tea with these tobaccos from time to time but the results are randomly either good or bad. It's frustrating not knowing what makes the combination work. It's most likely my body chemistry at the time but I really don't know.
I enjoy several types of beers with Latakia blends, especially Lion Stout

For my taste buds, coffee is the perfect partner with any blend.

There's nothing better than a cup of rich, black coffee with a bowl of baccy, whether it's at 5:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

But I don't drink coffee in the afternoon. If I did I would be wide awake until Memorial Day.

So I turn to other liquids. Here are a few:

-- Tea (warm or iced)

-- Lemonade, a surprisingly refreshing compliment to light aros or mild burley blends.

-- Plain ice-water, boring but effective.

-- A variety of pale ales and light-to-medium lagers (domestic and imported) and when I'm in the mood a Killian's Irish Red.

The only thing I eat when I smoke are apple slices (Gala or Fuji). Strange but true.

actually not that strange cornguy, and sounds like a good pairing indeed. I might have to get me some apples.
Just to clarify though -- eating was intended to be presumed a -before- smoking pair, or even -after-, but not during. Only time I smoke anything while eating was on my supper/cig breaks in fast food jobs when I didn't actually have time for either let alone both -- so I did both at the same time as fast as I could.

When pairing a drink with my smoke I usually follow Russ's guide. Hasn't failed me yet! :puffy:

Interesting topic, I find that hearty beer, Scotch, black tea or coffee seem to be what I favor while smoking. Wine works too, and I'm a wine lover, but I'm surprised that it doesn't work as well as I expected.

sjolie I had the same issue with wine and then I started drinking heavy in your face red wines. I find that those work best when I'm smoking a good full bodied tobacco.

I have simple tastes in regard to smoke and drink.
My favorite is Haddo's Delight and Ezra Brooks neat.

Other than that.... Ummmmmm...... Martini's and what's in my pipe.
