As pipe smokers, we have an extra piece of history to celebrate this 4th of July - pipes and tobacco of course! America's founding fathers grew and smoked tobacco. Fred Brown's July piece perfectly ties together the 247th birthday of the USA along with one of our favorite endeavors.

Fred waxed very nostalgically over his visit to Philadelphia which I suspect did most of his readers who are in the same age group. These very mortal men as a collective stood very firm in spite of the odds. They knew if Britain turned its true might on them, they would be the first hauled off to the gallows. These men were not leading a country that was firmly behind them. Only a third of the country supported them, a third were opposed to them, and third didn't care one way or the other. These were men who were packing "stones".

Personally, I felt this article was little too leaning on political spectrum. I mean with half of population believing "patriotism" being white supremacists related. Personally, once again, I feel that's biggest BS. But, who am I to say no to left freaks? Can we just get along?
