There is already some good advice here for you.

I see you are in Brazil. If you are buying your tobacco at the Recife Antigo market, it may be a chocolate flavoured tobacco that is actually pure nicotiana rustica, which happens to be the strongest nicotine laden tobacco in the world. This may explain your symptoms of headache and heavy chest if it is this particular tobacco.

How you fill the pipe is also important! I struggled for ages with the 3 step method, then found this video on youtube and everything fell into place

It may help to treat the pipe the way you treat a thermometer. You stick it in your mouth and just hold it there, breathing naturally through your nose and swallowing spit from time to time.

The smoke will waft into your mouth on its own. When it does, just take the pipe out of your mouth and blow the smoke out of your mouth. In time, you'll get comfortable enough with this to release the smoke from your mouth without taking the pipe out of your mouth (or to push the smoke back through the pipe if you want to). It's like holding a lit cigarette in your mouth while working on something with your hands.

If the pipe is going out, give it a "cigar puff" like you mentioned before. Then resume treating it like a thermometer.

Don't worry about doing it the "right way," just focus on calm, natural breathing through the nose. The pipe will take care of the rest. In fact, you'll find it puffing itself so fast that you have to stop it by letting it sit alone for a few seconds.

First of all, welcome to the circus formerly known as a forum..................

Lots of great advice here (especially @VDL_Piper advice on the serial killer in the wardrobe, etc. ha) so, I can't anything much to the list, but the best word that I was ever given on the art of pipe-smoking is "sip."

Just sip it and life will be good............

If I were to say there was any key to learning how to smoke - smoke slowly enough to keep the heat down but enough to keep it lit. Over time you will learn, as if through osmosis and symbiosis that you and the pipe are one. It's a journey and the only way to arrive at the destination is to stay on the trail.

I know it sounds wacky, but its true.

No need to smoke it like it is a cigar. Just draw on it every so often and not as deep as you would a cigar. You just sip a pipe after you have it going.

the more people that really enjoy smoking a pipe and don't give up on it.... the better for us. It's funny people worry about outside things ruining pipes and the pipe market... but the biggest danger is just a lack of interest. Also there is just a joy in sharing things that you're into with people that either get it or have the chance of getting it.
So thanks for asking questions and seeking our help.

Wow! Tried that today. Works great and super simple. Leave it to the Irish! ☘️ Guess when you’ve been at it since the 1800’s you figure some things out.

when I tried this method I found it disappointing. Kind of reminded me of my impression of the frank method where it was a decent pack job but found much more luck with the old semi gravity method. Both methods seem to be harder to mess up but leave less room for me at least to adjust the firmness of the pack job. Either way I do suggest newer and even older pipe smokers try a variety of packing methods because you'll learn what you are actually shooting for.

I puff like a madman from my corn cobs mate as they seem to dissipate heat really well. With my briars I tend to be a bit more careful as they cost quite a bit. Corn cobs are utilitarian in my opinion like a Jeep. Briars I tend to respect them a bit more as they cost quite a bit. I hope this helps. Cheers 🥂

I really can’t understand that point of view.
Puffing like a Puffing Billy will deliver a poor smoke.
So why do that ?
A cheap pipe should deliver as fine a smoke as an expensive one.

Personally, I find that some tobaccos, in some pipes of particular aerodynamic virtue, tend to require little invitation but rush in to the mouth at the merest sip - and this for me is piping heaven - but in other cases it is not so, and it has to be draw rather than suck. As @bullet08 says, the pipe sets the cadence and we do well if we allow it to do that. For me it's a question of matching the right pipe to the right tobacco, and treating both accordingly.
