On the average day I wouldn't even have any nicotine in my body so I still categorize myself as a non smoker.
The Surgeon General's report statistically that pipe smokers live longer on average than non-smokers. I think there's something to it. Most likely that stress is more harmful to our health than pipe tobacco. Granted the study is from the 70's but statistics are statistics. All the older members are expecting me to post the response below. Remember, your physician is more or less obligated to assist you in living a healthy lifestyle. Since he knows smoking, pipe, cigar or, cigarette is damaging to one's health, he needs to point this out or, regardless of insurance companies, he is remiss or simply lazy with regard to his Oath. But, disparaging medical professionals seems to be de rigour for many smokers. Many people dislike admitting to making bad choices willingly.
There is absolutely nothing efficacious about smoking. Please cite any studies which show benefits of replacing oxygen in your blood with nicotine. I simply ignore the dangers and enjoy the pipe without the contortions of trying to show smoking is beneficial. Suck it up and enjoy the nicotine. It's a selfish choice we make and everyone should have a wee vice. But, accepting the hazards is simply part and parcel of learning to enjoy nicotine and ignoring the health hazards.
How does the pipe connect with stress relief? I suppose the brain embracing the nicotine might create a bit of euphoria. Most likely that stress is more harmful to our health than pipe tobacco.
Mine does the same.My doctor asks, I tell her I average a pipe a day, she puts me down as a non-smoker.
A later report negated that one.The Surgeon General's report statistically that pipe smokers live longer on average than non-smokers. I think there's something to it. Most likely that stress is more harmful to our health than pipe tobacco. Granted the study is from the 70's but statistics are statistics.
It helps me to relax and slow down. YMMV.How does the pipe connect with stress relief? I suppose the brain embracing the nicotine might create a bit of euphoria.
