Dr Plumb Reusable Filter

Hi guys and gals, just a bit of a query about the filter in my Dr Plumb.

It's my first pipe and I've had it for a few month now. it has a removable (with considerable force and effort) metal filter. I'm curious if this is necessary? It gets quite dirty quickly and is quite difficult to get out so I was thinking I'd give it a go without but I'd like to know if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions?

It's called a stinger, most people remove them.

Get rid of it. My experience is that the stingers dom't offer any advantage to the smoking epxerience. Good luck with it.

Thanks. I've taken it out and will give it a go once I have the coin to get some more tobacco. It's so darn expensive here

Yes, take it out. I took the thing out of my Dr Plumb, and it smokes just fine, without the gunk build-up around the "stinger."
