So after a couple decades hiatus I've pulled my pipes out and have been really enjoying them again. I've had a little extra pandemic time so I've been buying some inexpensive pipes and restoring them. I find it almost as meditative as smoking the pipe. One of my purchases was an Omega with a heavily oxidized stem. I finished it today and smoked a bowl this evening. I was really impressed with how well it smoked. cool with maybe one or two re-lights. I've never smoked a well pipe and I like the p-lip. I'm curious what would be the smoking advantage to a Peterson upgrade other than name - or any other well pipe for that matter?

I've had 2 Petersons, still have one because it was a gift. I doubt I'll ever spend Peterson price again after 2 Grabows quickly became my favorite pipes. I own a Butz, a Sav estate, a Danske club, and 2 grabows. I'm happy, but if I were to look for another I'd probably look at Grabow to start. Enjoy the Grabow, they are pretty fine pipes IMO.

I have three Omegas from the 1970s, an they smoke well enough, but the draft holes in the stems really are too narrow. In fact, one of them, which I don't smoke any more, won't pass a cleaner through the stem. I don't know if that's true of newer models, though.

Dr. Grabows tend to get passed on in favour of 'fancier' factory pipes on here for whatever reasons. I don't have any in my collection but the newer Royaltons look very very nice.

@mso489 has been singing their praises for years.
