So yes naturally smoke is not good for humans or animals. We got that settled...

The funny story is that my dog totally digs some tobacco and hates others.
I smoke pipe in one room and naturally my dog is always allowed to leave the room. Window opened and air cleaner on. So much to that.

What I experienced is that my dog loves english and oriental tobacco. If I smoke that she(dog is a she) goes into deep sleeping relaxation.
If I smoke for example virginia she is out :D same goes for aros some she will enjoy with me others in 5 minutes she is leaving and go off to bed :D
It s just very funny that the strongest smelling english seem perfect for her :D

Any experience regarding dogs and pipe tobacco?

God, I would love to experience a dog's nose for one day.

It is my understanding that a dog can smell individual elements of a whole scent. For instance, if we smell a "hamburger," a dog smells all of the ingredients of that hamburger individually--the flour, water, yeast, etc., of just the bun, then the individual ingredients of the condiments and the seasoning as well as the toppers followed by the meat itself and what scents were added during the cooking process including the cook who handled it.

Can you imaging having a dog's nose, and smelling tobaccos both unlit and lit?

Dogs are genetically wired to like things that smell like wood smoke. They are, after all, decendents of the wolves who came out of the darkness of night, and into the warmth and food of the campfire.
That actually makes sense. I got a Chinese crested powder puff which are said to be a primitive dog race (means close to wolves.)
