Today when I was finishing up a bowl of Vanilla Cream Flake by Mac Baren I was puffing and a hot ember of tobacco came flying into my mouth and burned my tongue. My question to you has anything like this happened to you all?

Happened to me a few times when I was first learning. I would pack the bowl to tight and try and fiddle fart with a pick in the bowl drying to get a better draw. I would go from nothing to a tongue with an ember. Made learn to pack better that's for sure.
I have a couple of shirts with a small burn hole in each
I have a few expensive dress shirts that his happened to while I was driving. Wasn't very happy when that happened. Happened because my pipe was too full and few embers fell out.

Many of us could tell the same story with variants. In terms of burning clothes, chief for me was to make sure I left a small amount of room for the tobacco to expand at the top of the bowl; otherwise, especially if I were in an enviornment with wind (car, outside, fan) the embers would blow over and burn something.

Usually happens to me once every couple of weeks from chasing flavor at the end of the bowl. I always think there is one last good couple of puffs left. I am kind of used to it and can spit it out pretty damn quick.

I've done this a few times, hurts doesn't it? I'm with Kashmir on this now, I generally leave a little dottle at the bottom of the bowl to avoid this.

I've had ashes come through my stem but never anything like that. Usually when I'm down to the bottom I'm pretty cautious as to how hard I draw. I don't like the taste of ash and I sure as hell don't want to burn my tongue. Hope it feels better soon!

Yup but it's not nearly as bad as sneezing through the stem into a lit bowl.
I did that last night. I have mild hayfever and occasionally I experience spontaneous, no warning, sneezes. Nothing quite like sneezing into the stem and watching an eruption of hot embers come flying out of the bowl. I was wearing shorts and let me tell you, hot ash on your bare leg will make you dance
