So when an entire society is propagandized continually about nearly everything, through distortions, omissions, and outright lies, for years and years and years, to the point where actual reality differs significantly from their perceptions, I guess that would be mass induced schizophrenia.
That's the "different worlds that have different
content" part of it.
What I didn't make clear is how, to a schizophrenic, what goes on "inside" their head is perceived as separate and distinct from what physically happens around them. It feels like they are two people living different lives simultaneously.
(Schizophrenia falls on a spectrum, of course, but when the disconnect is severe, men in white coats and institutionalization is indicated because their outward behavior becomes so erratic, unpredictable, and illogical that it's dangerous.)
Anyway, it turns out that kids who have grown up surrounded by
abstract interaction (screens) from an early age develop that same split/disconnect from
physical reality as a result. It "tests" the same as naturally occurring schizophrenia.
Welcome to the 21st century.
