Does the Dominican Republic make pipes?

I know that the Dominican Republic is known for their cigars, but do they have any quality pipe makers?

I bet there's a native born Dominican pipe carver, and maybe an expat or two making pipes. I've never heard of them, but so what? I have a pipe made in Haiti with the bowl lined with recycled tin can metal. I don't smoke it, but appreciate the effort. I'm not much of a cigar smoker, but if given the choice, I prefer DR cigars for their good mild flavor.

Not to diminish Central and South American pipemakers, but I think the answer hinges on how you define quality. I have seen pipes come up from these areas, as MSO mentions, but thusly "quality" would be the key.

Do not know. But I think it will be the only place on the planet, where you can smoke.....................When taxes blow up tobacco in Europe and the US.............

I've never heard of a quality pipe maker from down there.

Well, if it's like most everything from there, it would be cheaply made, crude painted, bad fit, lazily executed and over priced.
I've spent a lot of time in the Dominican, and no, they dont really seem to have the drive or the capabilities to make quality items.
Even their Cigars, compared to those from other South/Central American countries are an inferior product.
