When I was building my rotation of pipes I bought most of them from ebay.
After a couple of poor choices I learnt to buy from a couple of professional sites that only sell estates in good condition that they clean the pipes themselves. [They also sold NOS]

Bought half a dozen briars through etsy from a dealer.

Now I do my best to ignore pipes for sale because I got a little carried away and bought way more pipes than I need.

My next and last order will be at Missouri Meerschaum because I need a few more cobs.

Only the best thing to come out of OZ since crowded house and the pavlova...oh wait both those things are kiwi.

Nah, I've not the budget nor the desire to buy from artisans.

The most I've paid for a pipe is $100.

My MM cobs smoke every bit as well as my Savinelli, Peterson, Lorenzo and other pipes that cost a lot more than an MM cob. So I don't see the point in paying too much on a pipe, no matter how pretty it is [Although I do have my eye on a Dunhill Cavalier that I would find hard to resist]

Crowded House? Please, you're doing Split Enz a huge disfavour not mentioning Crowded Houses roots who gave the Finn boys their big break when they first arrived talking funny.
They're Kiwis to the core.

Now pavlova on the other hand, thems fighting words bro.

Forgot to mention; what a huge recognition of his talent that Neil Finn was asked to join Fleetwood Mac.

@chopper glad to hear you know split enz. You a dragon fan too?...

tell ya what, you guys can keep Russell crow and we’ll have the pav
I See Red is an all time favourite.

No, I didn't really like Dragon.
Saw and like Mother Goose once [Remember Baked Beans?]
Mi-Sex used to play at Stagedoor Tavern. Enjoyed their gigs.

Now, now, don't be like that. You might hurt Rusty's feelings and it's hardly a fair swap.
Besides, we all know that pavlova is Aussie.

My mother made the best pavlova, soft and fluffy with melt in your mouth chewy crust.
Once all grown we were at a family Sunday lunch, roast lamb with all the trimmings with pav for dessert.
When mother mentioned that she never learned how to set a pavlova right [She was an excellent cook] my four siblings and I responded in unison that her pavs were the best.
And she never had realised.

In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
personally I don't need an excuse to spend more money. And I can look at a place like smoking pipes say nice pipe not going to spend that much money now. See certain things on e-bay and I start the mental gymnastics to justify spending money I shouldn't spend.

Chopper is basically claiming the equivalent of thanksgiving being a Canadian tradition
Huh? Now I'm also confused @jpmcwjr

[A pavlova is a dessert made with egg whites, covered with whipped cream and fresh soft fruits such as mango, passionfruit and peaches for e.g. {Any fresh soft fruit - there's no rules - that's why Kiwi's probably use Kiwi fruit. It's allowed  }]

Do the Brits call it Pavlova also? I had a similar pudding in England, but don't recall the name.
It’s like a whole cake made of merengue, which you get a slice of.

I think it was a down under take based loosely on the Eaton mess (ambrosia??) dessert that is from England. Im sure they probably make pavlova there nowadays too
