does anyone else use a pipe to cope with stress?

Flipflops, if the penultimate reason for smoking a pipe is to relieve stress, what is the last reason? Penultimate means next to last. Sorry to be abusive, but I alway try to find an opportunity to use that word.

My prayers to your family. Yes, I find smoking my pipe relaxes me at stressful times. However, unlike with cigarettes, pipe-smoking doesn't simply 'take the edge off' for a short period but promotes calm and serenity for the rest of the day.

I used to get that calm serenity from whiskey. In fact some times I got so serene I couldn't move. Glad I gave that up!

My pipe has given me a few moments of serenity and sanity during some pretty rough times. Even on the best of days it brings me out of the daily grind and helps me to relax. It never fails to please.
