Doctors Visit

The years have rolled by and it's time to get my colon checked again.Today I visited the doctor who's going to do it.He asked me if I smoke.I told him that I smoke a pipe.He asked me if I ever get sores in my mouth.I told him no.That was the end of the conversation.He scheduled the procedure....Let me get very serious now..My father who refused to get his colon checked died from colon cancer.The doctor who has previously done this no longer does it. He told me some time ago that had I not been getting mine checked I would also be dead now..I urge everyone especially those over 50 to get this procedure...It saves lives..Let me add one more thing.A lady xrayed my lungs Her comment was beautiful.That's after more than 40 years of pipe smoking.

That's great about the lungs, I am 42 and dread as we all the DPE over yup, but as you say my father too my Doc recommended me at 35 good thing 3 polyps he removed them and no sign of malignancy! Enjoy the Valium and Versed for the twilight sleep. :lol:

You are right. It's not a big deal. But you should be aware there can be complications and I've seen a few things come up in my career working in hospitals. In fact, when my wife went in at age 50 for her exam the clinic had failed to properly sterilize the scope before using it on her. She had to get tested for HIV and Hepatitis B every three months for nine months as did the patient who was examined before her. Ask about equipment sterilization procedures before you get your exam as I've seen this happen more than once.

+1 for preventative testing. I have lost two people in my life to the big "C", do what you can to get checked, eat your veggies and don't inhale. :wink:

Every 3 years . . . I'm due this year. They now have pills instead of that awful drink. No excuses, you ream your pipes, take care of the rest of it!

My cousin Bobby died of colon cancer because he never wanted to get a colonoscopy. It's a shame. Good for you for having it done.

Just had my first one a few weeks ago, and all was fine. The prep was the worst part by far.

Sorry to hear about your DAD, mine drank him self to death.

I have been getting one done for years, my next one is 10 year from now.

Maybe I will be here to get it, Who knows. My lungs are clean also after over 50 years of smoking a pipe, I never did inhale. ::

Every 3 years, polyps. If there aren't any this year, I get to go 5 years. Life's short enough, don't make it shorter!
