The motion is colossally obnoxious, but so is the way I find most public restrooms. When I am in airports, I frequently see toilets that have urine sprayed all over them. It makes me wonder what is wrong with people. I can't imagine that they would do that at home, so why do they become complete jerks in the public restroom? It's like they are purposely going out of their way to make a disgusting mess, and to say "Ha ha, screw you if you need to sit down".
While I would like to catch people doing this and beat the living daylights out of them, I still think having a motion as originally referenced above is much too controlling and stupid.

I can't imagine anything will come of it for what it's worth. Swedes love their rules, but they're not crazy.
The Local (the online newspaper this comes from) is aimed at the expat population in Sweden, and often has lazy fluff pieces or other things that pick on the Swedish culture a little bit, so I think they're making more of this than it is.
On the front page right now, you can see two consecutive articles with the headlines "Swedishness can't only be about herring and potatoes" followed by "Swedish meatballs made easy in Stockholm."
It's like seeing an article "America: It's more than McDonald's!" followed by "Make a Big Mac at home: Secret tips from a pro!"

Sure, laugh it off...scoff if you will. Just don't let Mike Bloomberg get hold of this idea or Gothamnites will have to urinate on command. And only less than 16 oz. at a shot!

I actually sit down to pee at home as often as I can. Seems cleaner. In public johns? No way.

Laugh all you want. I'm with Phil on this one. But I do it because I'm too lazy to stand and aim. In public, you're supposed to basically p!$$ all over the urinal anyway (well almost). Plus it keeps the wife from getting pissed (pun intended) at me for hosing down the toilet in the middle of the night. :rofl:

@ Winton, heck man it's so easy to use those hospital male urinals....IF you don't mind lying in urine soaked sheets til the nurse"s aide changes the bedding. One of my nurses told me it's best to check your dignity at the hospital's door when being admitted.

This thread allows us to discuss otherwise "forbidden" political issues without being political, no??
