It's about men who have slobbery mouths, they're discussing whether or not you should swallow all that excess slob or spit it out.
I can't relate... I have to keep a drink to keep my whistle wet.
But I say, down the hatch... Be a trooper.
I'm a fairly dry smoker, so I don't need to spit. This subject reminds me of my late Uncle who chewed Redman and Union Workman Chewing tobacco. He was the only man I know that could put a rounded ball of tobacco in his cheek and go to a movie and never spit. I always figured he would never have to worry about worms because nothing could live in that stomach.
I'm a wet mouth smoker and do spit If outside. If inside I keep a little jar or cup handy. No different than chewing tobacco. I find if I swallow it sometimes gives me indigestion. 
I've never noticed more saliva from pipe smoking, but when I first started smoking cigars it happened all the time. Maybe my mouth is just more accustomed to nicotine now
The timing of an answer to that question requires careful thought and a lot of mimosas.
Wow that is interesting, I do salivate alot more while clenching too... and since clenching usually means I'm outdoors doing chores it all works out since there's ample ground to spit on lol.
I wonder what the connection there is?
I do salivate when I smoke, but I prefer it because (I believe) it protects my teeth.
Some blends will dry my mouth out and it makes my teeth.....not hurt, but a very very light ache, enough to notice and remind me that they are quickly aging and deteriorating.

Same... The only solace I take in all this is seeing that even the pyramids are slowly withering away. They say time heals all wounds... obv whomever made that wisecrack didn't understand the idea of scale
Slinging spit is where it's at. Grabbing the pipe by the bowl, stem extended outward, and whipping the pipe in a downward arc so that whatever is gurgling in the pipe is eliminated by centrifugal force. It's scientific, it's expeditious, and da broads think it's sexy. Stinks, though, like really really bad. I wouldn't do it in my own house. Glad I haven't had to do it in years--it's really gross, and I'm delicate.
Heck yeah, I spit..... I especially spit when smoking cigars.
I am such an accomplished spitter that I spit with "Olympic accuracy." Don't know if they have an Olympic event in spitting, but if they do (and they should) then I ought to be on it.
I can walk by a bucket.... hit it. I can go near the cat litter pan.... bullseye! While down at the barn and in the paddock, I will sometimes see a hoof print in the dirt and go for it. More times than not.... bingo!
