Seems like when I buy bulk, even when I put it into a jar immediately, there is a greater

motivation to smoke it. It's available. I've handled it. I've smelled it. Tins are easier

to age, and the anticipation and postponement seems to become its own pleasure.

Whereas bulk is ready to go. Does anyone else have this reaction, or is it just me?

I'm the same way. Even after I pop a tin and jar it I'm more apt to reach for a jarred bulk. I'd never given it a thought until now though! LOL

I buy both bulk and tins. I put the tins in the cellar and forget about them. I pretty much only smoke bulk, with a few exceptions.

My only tin in rotation right now is Triple Play, which I popped and have enjoyed learning to cut and

rub plug tobacco. That and a 12 oz can of Granger. All the tins are in waiting, and the rest of the

rotation is bulk out of jars, and a few baggies with small amounts.

It depends on the bulk. I have a few 250g of SG that I have in jars. The FVF was purchased in Sept and I have yet to pop it. The BBF and SJF were recently purchased and I don't plan on popping them until next year. My PS tobacco gets jarred so a few can age and one is for current consumption. I guess I just let my flake sleep a bit while I bust the ribbon cut out earlier. Just my .02.

I have no problem aging bulk in jars, in particular Luxury Navy Flake and Night Train.

I for the most part throw mine in jars also. But I will admit that the urge is stronger with them. But I try my hardest to keep a good rotation of ages going.

I buy way more than I smoke, bulk and tinned. Bulk goes straight to mason jars, same with opened tins. Aging bulk in mason jars does wonders (McC's 2015). My 'open' rotation is close to 40 mason jars. Trying to get it down to about a dozen so I can focus more, but am finding that it's going in the opposite direction.

Same for me. My feeling is, the tins can wait. They're sealed and aging will only make them better. I am on a budget but I am fortunate enough to have about 5+ years of bulk safely sealed in mason jars but only about 4 mos of tobacco in tins.

Bulk goes to mason jars with one of those jars going straight into rotation.
Tins are always ordered in multiples and stay in the tins until cracked open.

At that point, it goes straight into a jar as well and added to rotation stock.
Trying to get it down to about a dozen so I can focus more
LOL ... good luck brother!

The only bulk I buy is a black cav, in 1 oz bags, to add a little bit into a tin of Royal Yacht when I jar it. OW everything else I smoke is in tins.

I have a favorite bulk which I tend to smoke the most. I have more of it and it's good at any time. Other tobacco I might have less of at the moment, I don't smoke through it as fast.

Absolutely..I always buy bulk when I can, I guess I'm always looking to make my money go further. That's my problem right now. I've been buying 1 to 2 ounce "samples" and all are in their respective jars, the way it works is that blend has to "earn" it's own jar. I'm working my way through them, and if I like them I make note of ordering more to fill the jar. The tins I have bought are for sampling too, but I wont crack them till I at least sample most the bulk stuff I've got.

Definitely bulk, like I can get 500 grams of G&H flake for 50$ or so or I could buy 10 50gram tins for about 100$ of G&H. I pretty much just buy tins that aren't available in bulk. I do smoke the tins slower though as they're more costly so I more smoke a tin as a treat.

Interesting post. I had not thought of it before; however, I tend to buy more tinned than bulk as it seems to just be more consistent in its quality, moisture and flavor.
