No. Sometimes I’m shocked when I revisit. But that’s because I’m a one trick pony and don’t have much wanderlust with tobacco. But I sure have collected my share.

My memory isn’t firing of late. But a times a forum member will reminisce about something and sure enough, I’m shocked to learn I have some!

On edit. Neither is my attention to detail! You asked about pipe brands. Yes. Yes I do because I’ve never gotten rid of a single pipe. Modest collection of 27 briars. Sorry about that!

Hell, I have so many pipes, that I am constantly finding them and wondering where the hell they came from. Last summer, my wife handed me several boxes of tobacco and pipes that I received from online orders that we just threw into the storage building without opening them. After I've placed an order, I am usually done with it and moving on to the next thing. I couldn't make a list of who made which of my pipes if a gun was put to my head. Most of the time IDGAF who the maker is on any particular pipe, and several of mine I just removed the branding altogether to put a band on them. I am not a pipe brand fanboy for the most part.

That's the kind of detail I enjoy remembering, a little streak of compulsion. I could remember most of them now if I took twenty minutes to think back, but I won't do that. There are probably a few I'd forget, and have to have my memory jogged by some association or from hearing the brand mentioned or seeing a photograph of it. The obvious major brands are easy. The less known brands, or where I owned the pipe for less time, might be more difficult. But mostly, yes, I remember them. Like friends.

Cosmic, you order pipes you don't even open? Pardon me, but where's the joy? Why? I torture buying a pipe, so it is usually a long process of deliberating and choosing, but usually it is a pretty good experience, and I aways open the parcel. After all the "deep thought," I have to see the result.

I am done. I know there are more but my brain just locked up. I have redone my collection a number of times and I am in the middle of another redo. The last 13 pipes were all commissions with Jack Howell. I really like commissions as I enjoy watching my idea of a certain shape get made by a real pro.

Sure I do. I still have most of the pipes I bought over the years, and the few I sold I remember as well. Family names? Well, not so good there. My sister has seven kids and I'll be damned if I can keep them straight.

My mother couldn't remember our names, so when she wanted to have a word with one of us she'd call out all our names, starting with the oldest, and stop when she reached the miscreant.
