Beautiful pipe, very tempting for sure.
I wonder if a windcap would help keep all the hot tuff off your fleshy bits.

Its the basis of many meerschaum 'cutty' pipes I own which regular readers of these pages will be familiar with from my many postings over the years and my blog on the same subject. Since I tend to turn the pipe on its side to light the tobacco I have not noticed unnecessary charing. As to tar build up you do get a slight noticeable increase on the back wall of the pipe but I have always put that down to the cooling and conductivity of meerschaum. The advantage of this type of cant is that it keeps the smoke out of your eyes and nostrils, again I have not experienced any loss of burning tobacco onto my lap. Given what I tend to burn up in my pipe I have always been more concerned with getting the tobacco to burn and then stay alight. A beautiful pipe none the less. Who made it?

With a great deal of diligence in tamping, after the initial light, you will seldom get fallen ash. There may be a pun in there, but you have to work for it....

I can't turn away from a pipe with a lot of cant. I own several horns...which this basically is when considering the orientation of the chamber to the shank draft.
Here's a terrible image of my 'Wallstreet', I believe it's English. I bought this bowl-only for a dollar from John Elles at the Richmond pipe show several years ago, and re-stemmed it. I've yet to rusticate away a couple of bad patches. Pipe smokes great. I'm careful about the embers when smoking these pipes, no issues here.

If you're going to smoke in a hammock, you'd better post a friend as the fire watch. You could doze off.

Brian. Nice looking pipe. That is a lot of cant. I too would be worried about burning my clothes more than I do already.

I own one pipe that has a small cant and I would not buy another. I love the pipe as it is a Rad Davis Zulu, but lighting it is a tad tricky and I am not good with tricky.
