A few degrees of cant can really make the lines and silhouette of a pipe POP.

Some shapes like the belge or cutty rely on a little more cant.
Then there's this thing from LHS. A "Londonderry"...

So strange I just had to try it out.

I find that loose tobacco and hot embers fall out, which I don’t like, especially when it’s on my belly. Additionally the tars build up fast on the one side of the rim of the

Bowl, and in one of my pipes caused a wee bit of char. I’m personally done with those shapes.

Especially for me, I find that I'm not so much a clencher, as a hanger. So a pipe like that, all the tobacco would fall right out!

Brian, I love the looks of that pipe, so congrats and have fun. I recently bought a heavily canted pipe by Elliott Nachwalter, and I love it. But you do have to be mindful of it's orientation if you move about because ashes do fall out.

Van Gogh painted one way back when, so they've been around awhile.

That far-canted pipe is an eye-catcher. It may fade from the rotation because of the problems cited in the thread, but it provides a little drama for the rack. On the other hand, a bit of cant properly introduced in various shapes really gives a pipe a rakish dash. I like that.

It sure is pretty, but it would not work for me. Oh well; people like me are resilient but inflexible, open-minded but dogmatic. So that may change in twenty seconds. Especially as it stares at me with its large, deep eyes.

Good one Hunter.. and I was just thinking if it were a normal straight billiard I'd probably smoke it weekly at least.
And while I'm thinking of droopy pipes, did anyone see that Tinsky Hawkbill on SPC this past week? It looked like the bowl was melting off the shank.

th

Why? Consider the following: You're out on the patio enjoying a beautiful sunset, and preparing to enjoy a bowl of your favorite tobacco in your perked-up pipe. You apply the match for the charring light, puff slowly and carefully, and then reach for your tamper...only to find that it's GONE! Suddenly your enchanted evening turns sour, but it doesn't have to, not if you have the amazing Clamper Tamper from Bradco!
Originally introduced in 2014, the Clamper Tamper looks just like an ordinary clothes-pin, but it's much, much more! It's a fully adjustable pipe-tamper suitable for every pipe in your collection. From the shallowest bowls to the deepest, the Clamper Tamper tamps them all, but that's not all. It's unique clip design means that you'll never lose your Tamper (or temper at losing your tamper) again! Clip it to the pocket-flap of your shirt, the lapel of your suit, your ear lobe, your dog's tail, or any handy surface. It's always ready for instant action. But that's not all. You can also use the Clamper Tamper to seal that peksy bag of pipe-tobacco that just won't stay closed. It also serves as a handy pipe support. Just clip the Clamper Tamper to the stem of your pipe to keep it safely clear of that germy table top!
Are you offended by those vile stinky blends your fellow pipers insist on smoking during your get-togethers at the local B&M or pipe club? Just clip the Clamper Tamper to your nose and smile! Even Condor is no match for the efficient seal provided by the Clamper Tamper!
But wait, there's more! You'll find literally hundreds of uses for the Clamper Tamper! And don't let your wife or significant other see it, or you will have to enjoy your pipe in the back yard beneath the clothes-line!
Are you environmentally conscious? Well fear not, for the Clamper Tamper is crafted of non-endangered Clamponia wood so you can feel good knowing that you're doing your part to help save the rain forests!

I don't mind a slightly canted bowl, but they are a bit more difficult see what you're doing when you light or tamp. I wouldn't own a pipe with that forward of a cant.

A bit too forward of a cant for me. Yachts appear to have a forward cant, but the chamber is vertical. A Zulu has just the perfect cant for my liking without fear of embers falling in my lap.
