to deviate to a related tangent - I do not understand the appeal of Bugattis. Especially considering their 7 figure MSRP, they just don't really look the part to me. Give me a lamborghini murcielago or aventador any day

To add to that seven-figure MSRP, the cost to run a Veyron is ridiculous. A simple service - you know, the one you need to have performed every 10,000km or three months - will run you around $21,000USD. You have to replace the tires a minimum of yearly, and of course, they are not just any set of Goodyears from the local Wallyworld...they will run you around $39,000USD. Every fourth tire change requires a new set of rims - to the tune of $46,000USD (making that a $85,000 tire change).
Personally, I am an Aston-Martin man; although I wouldn't turn down a Maserati! And hey, I could buy either with the yearly cost of maintainance on a Veyron.

The appeal of the Veyron is it's the fastest car in the world and has the smoothest ride for those speeds. All it is is a toy for rich billionares. I wouldn't mind being able to waste $1.2 million on it. Love the design of the body and the interior (btw the body looks that way because they built the frame around the engine). Wouldn't be too bad having 1,000 horses under the hood. 0-100 in something like 4 seconds. Yeah the maintanence of it is amazingly costly, but my guess is the insurance on it is a mother as well. I'm sure Justin Bieber, being an under 25 male, only has the insurance company charge him for the month he wants to drive his. In all reality my hopes are to one day be able to afford a nice Mercedes. One of the smoothes rides I've ever been in.

My little green Miata will outstop you, and outturn you. I paid $9,000 with 24K miles. I'm not saying something I read in a book.

I think it looks terrible, a throw back of 30's trying to live in the now. As far as driving it, my 70 Mach 1 Mustang can do 225 so no big deal there, but mine will do it in a 1/4 mile and not take 3 minutes to get there, which is just about how far you can drive 225 in this country.
Also, mine will do the first 50 feet on 2 wheels.
Sorry, not my cup of tea.

I do. Had mostly Pontiacs (GTO's, Firebirds, etc) but did most of my street racing with Buicks. Still have my 1969 GS Stage I, but in the '80's-early '90's I did an awful lot of street racing with an 86 Buick Grand National; essentially a stock car that ran 12:00 at 118 mph with no nitrous, back in 1990. I got beat, but mostly I won. Raced it from Pittsburgh to Detroit; lots of action then, it's all gone now.
I could sort of care less for all these mega-exotic cars that are out there today. I'd rather have a wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to street racing anyway.

As we're bragging... I used to beat anything with 4 wheels at 1/4 mile, 0-60 in about 3.4 seconds, clocked out at a little over 130 mph on 1/4mile,and somewhere in a pile of old shirts i have the 300 km / hour t-shirt...it's called Hayabusa , with a few mods...for the price of the tire change on the Veyron. Good fun.
So now I have a busted shoulder, misaligned spine and can only look at my helmets and leathers.... I'm done with speed,no matter the cost, although.... Hmmm..... Perhaps if..."honey, can we talk for a second ? . ;-)

@mick, I feel your pain brother. Going through PT for a torn rotator cuff after years of off-on pain. Dr asked me, "you ever hurt the shoulder?" I say, "Used to race MX in my late teens, hit a tree once shoulder first doing about 20 MPH, does that count?" He just shook his head and mumbled something about bikes - death wish. He just didn't get it.

Typical Italian Supercar....sounded like it was going to fall apart, transmission was clunky, stuck to the road like glue, and had that race car raw sound and feel to it....awesome. My kids got me a Supercar Experience for my Birthday last year, which is a 4 hour session over in Concord, NC...near Charlotte Motor Speedway. You get your choice of 4 Supercars to drive for X amount of dollars. You drive on backroads around the area, no slab driving, thankfully, so you get a chance to open them up and have great fun.

This is an Aston Martin we drove. The finest car of the bunch, luxurious, refined, purred like a kitten at idle, sounded like a Formula 1 car above 6K RPM....just so smooth. It was definitely the finest car I've ever driven.

Have you seen my avatar? Speed isn't really my thing. My daily winter driver is a 98 Chevy pickup (with plow), and an 84 BMW 528 for the rest of the year. Quickest car I ever owned was an 85 Rabbit GTI.

A video clip featuring the fastest car in the world, the Bugatti Veyron, has gone viral. The video clip shows the $1.7 million mechanical wonder reaching speeds of 225 miles per hour on streets apparently in the state of Arizona. The Arizona police are not very entertained with the stunt. Actually police are furious. Well, it is said that the video was shot in Arizona. However, it's hard to tell from the video what country it is filmed in. Article Source: Arizona Bugatti Veyron video leaves police fuming.
