Do you have a hobby that is a little more oddball or unique?

I've recently got into listening to shortwave radio. I don't know if that is a hobby or not, but it counts. Do you play a unique instrument? Are you learning Latin? Do you make your own paper?

I'm interested to see what some members fill their free time with other than with a pipe.

I started building a Fleischmann HO German model railroad layout a few years ago. It's a very slow process because I have it in a room in the garage without heat or ac. Not much progress in the summer or winter. The plan is to put in heat and ac, but that's at the bottom of the "to do" list.

I've dabbled with vacuum tube electronics for 20+ years. I've modified and repaired a lot of guitar amps and built several guitar amps from scratch over the years. I suck at woodworking though, so all my scratch projects look like something you'd bury a small pet in.

Mike, I so regret not getting involved in four things in my life.

Learning to read and speak Anglo Saxon, learning about and doing beekeeping and the same for cheesemaking and bookbinding.

I've loosely dabbled in the latter (making my own press) but only to repair ancient books in my collection.

Other than that I'm much involved in making and collecting micromounts. These are tiny samples of minerals, usually crystals, that are best viewed under a microscope.

Regards,

Jay.

There's always time to learn a few phrases Jay!

"It's when you take an old Indian head/buffalo nickel and rework the front or back into a new picture. "

I've seen finger rings that guys have made from American coins, usually silver ones. They can look quite spectacular if done right!

Regards,

Jay.?
